Walkes to make loan move permanent?

Lilywhite Rose can reveal that Anton Walkes’ loan move to Portsmouth is likely to be made permanent this summer, with all parties keen to do a deal.

The 21 year old right back has been at Pompey since January and has made a positive impact at the League One club, making 12 appearances and scoring a single goal.

The Portsmouth boss, Kenny Jackett (who worked with Harry Kane at Millwall), is thought to hold Walkes in high regard from his time working with our development squad last year.

Walkes, who can also play at centre-back or in midfield, is under contract until 2019 but it is not thought that Spurs will stand in the way of the player who is said to be keen on the move.

He would join another ex-Spurs youth goalkeeper, Luke McGee who joined Portsmouth in 2017 and has since made 50 appearances for the club.

Walkes had a stint in the MLS last year, turning out for Atlanta United 20 times and chipping in with 2 goals.

He has made just one senior appearance for Spurs, playing in the EFL Cup against Gillingham in 2016.

Walkes would be the third Spurs youth player to leave the set up in recent times, with Reo Griffiths also linked with a move away. However, with players likeĀ Oliver Skipp and Tashan Oakley-Booth expected to make the step up to the first team in the coming seasons, the Spurs youth set up will remain strong.
