‘Trouble On Teeside’

Good to join host Ricky Sacks was joined by Lee McQueen, and debutant Hugo for this week’s Last Word On Spurs as we discussed Lucas Moura rescuing a replay for Spurs after Ashley Fletcher struck opener for Championship side in the FA Cup third round clash.

More misery was piled on Jose Mourinho as Tottenham failed to beat Middlesbrough in the FA Cup. Spurs have been left with an unwanted replay and another fixture on an already-stacked calendar. Lucas Moura’s second half header levelled the game shortly after Ashley Fletcher caught the Spurs back line napping.

It leaves Mourinho again with more questions about his side than answers, as pressure starts ramping up on him and his ability to get the more out of the squad that let Mauricio Pochettino down earlier this season.

‘Defensive Deficiencies’

It was good to be back on Last Word On Spurs as I joined host Ricky Sacks and Jamie from the Daily Hotspur to review to the 2-2 draw against bottom of the table Norwich City.

Harry Kane struck a late penalty to earn Tottenham a point at Carrow Road and deny Norwich a first Premier League victory in seven matches. Mario Vrancic opened the scoring with his first Premier League goal for the Canaries before they were denied a second when Teemu Pukki’s goal was ruled out for a marginal offside by the Video Assistant Referee (VAR).

Spurs improved after the interval and Christian Eriksen drew them level with a stunning free-kick but Norwich retook the lead when Serge Aurier put through his own net. The visitors had their chances and Dele Alli’s neat finish was ruled out for offside, before Kane drew Christoph Zimmermann into a lunging challenge inside the area. The England striker sent Tim Krul the wrong way from the spot to secure a point for the north London side.

The panel also look ahead to Southampton to come on New Year’s Day in the Premier League.

We also touched upon the players that we didn’t manage to sign in the summer, in particular South American’s Paulo Dybala and Philippe Coutinho – just how close did Spurs came to landing both players and is there is a possibility of signing either in the future?
