Keanan Bennetts to join Gladbach

Lilywhite Rose can reveal that the transfer of Keanan Bennetts to Borussia Mochengladbach has been confirmed.

The fee for Bennetts, 19, whose contract was extended in December, is understood to have been agreed at £2 million.

It is thought that Tuesday was his last day at the club.

A winger who can operate down either flank, Bennetts was the standout development squad player this year and it’s a huge disappointment to lose a player we had high hopes for.

Bennetts made 32 appearances for Spurs last season in the Premier League 2, UEFA Youth League and the EFL Trophy scoring 9 goals and providing 8 assists.

Highlights included a brace of free kicks during a PL2 game at ‘Three Point Bridge’, the second of three Spurs away wins away at Chelsea this season.

He has been capped at youth level with both Germany and England (his mother is German) and was expected to stand a decent chance of breaking into the first team squad next season.

With strong personal ties to Germany it is not entirely surprising Bennetts has chosen to make this move but we hope Daniel Levy doesn’t regret letting a promising young player go on the cheap.

Bennetts is the latest English prospect to move to Germany in recent times. Jadon Sancho, one of England’s most highly rated young players, moved away from Manchester City in favour of a move to Borussia Dortmund and West Ham’s Reece Oxford and Everton’s Ademola Lookman have also made loan moves to Gladbach and RB Leipzig respectively.

Update: this transfer was confirmed by Tottenham Hotspur F.C. and Borussia Mochengladbach on 18 May 2018.

Maghoma set to join FC Twente

Tottenham Hotspur defender Christian Maghoma is set for a move to Eredivisie side FC Twente.

Maghoma, 20, will link up with the Dutch club ahead of him being released from his THFC contract on 30 June 2018.

The Development Squad player has been at the club since 2014 but failed to make a competitive appearance. A loan move to Yeovil Town in 2015 was also unsuccessful.

Despite turning out for England U16s in 2012, Maghoma made his international debut for DR Congo in a friendly win over Botswana last year.

His younger brother, Paris, 17, is in the Spurs Academy and is considered a decent prospect, having made appearances for England’s Under 16 and 15 sides.

We wish Christian the best for the future.

Squad Update 2013/14

With the club making, the official announcement on which players would be retained ahead of the 2013/14 campaign, further too the news we broke regarding the departures of Nathan Bryne and Dean Parrett, in total 15 players have now moved on.

William Gallas leads the exodus, at the expiration of his contract after three seasons with the club making 72 appearances scoring 1 goal and captaining Tottenham on numerous occasions. The former Chelsea and Arsenal center back suffered a lot of criticism towards the end of his time in a spurs shirt about his performances on the pitch, which in defence of the fans had deteriorated, but lets remember William for when he captained us for the first time against his former club Arsenal at the Emirates in a famous 3–2 Tottenham victory, Spurs’ first league victory at Arsenal since 1993. Gallas was superb in the UEFA Champions League and gave us some much needed experience in the tournament in the knockout stages he put in two commanding performances against A.C. Milan to set up a quarter-final tie against Real Madrid in the club’s first attempt in the competition. Since leaving the club William has been linked with a host of MLS clubs, we wish William the best of luck in the future.

David Bentley, the worst signing in an economic sense the club has ever made, £15 Million, and to leave on a free its terrible business, the sort of business Manchester City would be proud of, David was a character and a life long spurs fan, but we never actually needed him, already having Aaron Lennon, failed Loan spells, at Birmingham City, West Ham, FC Rostov and a return to Blackburn Rovers never materialised into the permanent move away from the Lane he needed. During the successful 2009/10 campaign when we finished 4th, David did come in and play a part, when Lennon was injured making 24 appearances scoring 4 times and providing 6 assists.

Image

David will be best remembered for two incidents which could have defined his Spurs career, His 40 yard thunderbolt to open the scoring for us at his former club Arsenal in the dramatic 4-4 draw, and the other David being the main culprit of the drenching of former manager Harry Redknapp, celebrating after the victory over Manchester City, which secured 4th position. David has acknowledged in interviews since, that Redknapp didn’t speak to him at all after the incident. Since his release David has been linked with West Ham, Stoke City, and a return to Blackburn.

John Bostock the wonder kid that never was, The 700k tribunal fee, we had to pay for him must seem like a great bit of business by Simon Jordan now, It never worked out for John at spurs, and he has been paid up a year early on his deal that actually expired in 2014, John who has been described as deeply religious, has options following his release, including Belgium second division side FC Antwerp, Notts County and Swindon.

Jack Barthram a surprise release to many Spurs supporters, has penned a two year deal at Swindon, the young right back has lots of great attributes, and was superb for our U21 team last season we wish Jack all the best and im sure we will see him in the prem again soon.

Jack Munns, a young attacking midfielder who scored some vital goals for our u21s last season was released at the end of his contract, Munns has previously been on trial at Birmingham City, but since news on his future has gone quiet, from his performances with the u21 set up im sure he will find a league 1 or 2 club prepared to give him a chance, to climb back up the football pyramid.

Jake Nicholson, better known to many fans for his affair with Katie Price made only one appearance for us as a second half substitute against Hearts in the Europa League. Nicholson has also been released after many years at the club, the English central midfielder is a tidy player and is currently on trial at Premier League new boys Crystal Palace.

William Ekong the 6ft 2 Dutch center half is training with FC Gronigen in his homeland of Holland, the tough tackling defender is trying to win a deal to move back to the Netherlands, talks are ongoing.

Youngsters – Victor Zapata Caicedo who has been on trial at Sunderland and Ipswich, Samuel Smith, Thomas Gardiner on trial at ipswich, Oliver Modeste, Mason Bush and young goal keeper Billy Grainger have all been released and will be on the look out for new clubs.

Second player flees the nest

This week has seen the news break across twitter, that Dean Gary Parrett, has left spurs and has already played in a competitive match for Crystal Palace U21’s against Bolton Wanderers following his release. Reading a few reports it seems as though Dean impressed, this will be the second young English player to be confirmed as leaving White Hart Lane this close season, after i revealed last week that Nathan Bryne had agreed to leave Tottenham on the expiration of his contract and join loan club Swindon Town on a permanent deal this summer.

Dean whose contract expires this summer, and had expected to be released by spurs albeit some impressive performances for the spurs u21’s side campaign, especially netting twice at the Hawthorns in a 0-4 victory.

Parrett has represented England at many youth levels and made his Spurs debut shortly after joining in a Europa League tie against Ukrainian side Shaktar Donetsk on the 19th February 2009.

Dean who joined spurs at the age of 15 from Queens Park Rangers, also had a host of Loan spells whilst with the club with mixed response at Swindon, Yeovil, Charlton, Plymouth and Aldershot.

Dean follows another English youngster who was tipped for big things when moving to Spurs for more than £1 Million in Leigh Mills, hopefully Dean has a brighter further in the game that Mills did, now 25 he is currently unattached following his release from conference south side Eastleigh.

Dean comes from a family of spurs fans, his mum Kalitsa regularly interacting on Facebook and Twitter with updates on Deans career and pictures of the spurs youth team, matches and tournaments they have participated in. Dean is engaged to Nikki Pritchard the sister of young spurs player Alex Pritchard.

We at lillywhiterose wish Dean all the best for the future and hope to see him and his family of spurs fans at White Hart Lane in the not to distant future.

Summer Squad Update

Another new dawn at White hart lane. It’s all change since last season when we were nailed on for third, then settled for fourth before Chelsea ruled us out of the champions league in circumstances, that I will never forget.

Harry  Redknapp has gone, following him out of the door his assistants Joe Jordan, Kevin Bond and 1st team coach and Tottenham man Clive Allen.

Andre Villas Boas has become the new head coach on a three-year deal. The Portuguese manager had been out of work since his time managing London rivals Chelsea came to an end. Andre has brought in his own staff , Luis Martins as first team coach and Jose Mario Rocha as first team fitness coach along with Daniel Sousa as head of opposition scouting. The new assistant manager is White hart lane hall of fame entree Stefan Freund. Les Ferdinand, Tim Sherwood, Tony Parks, Chris Ramsey  and Geoff Scott have all been kept on in there existing roles however there is talk of Tim Sherwood being promoted to a higher role within the new set up this is yet to be official confirmed.

The following Players have left so far permanently  – Niko Kranjcar 6m, Vedran Corluka 5m, Steven Piennar 4.5m, Ledley King (retired), Ryan Nelsen (free), Louis Saha (free) Ben Alnwick (free) along with younger players whose contracts have not been renewed these being Oscar Jansson, Mirko Ranieri, Jessie Waller Lassen, Kudos Oyenuga, Lee Angol, Paul Mcbride, James Yeboah, Ronnie Hawkins and Ramil Sheriff.

Two more players who have moved on with their loans expiring are our top goalscorer from last season Emmanuel Adebayor who i do expect to join the club permanently once his negotiations with Manchester City have been concluded and young Brazilian Bruno Uvini who now according to reports looks set to join Italian giants AS Roma, he was also in the Brazil squad for the Olympics.

There has also been more exits from the lane on a loan basis with Bongani Khumalo heading to PAOK in Greece on a season loan, promising  Australian youngster Massimo loungo has joined championship outfit Ipswich Town on a season loan and has already been earning rave reviews from his form in their pre season build up. Lightning quick winger Ryan Fredrick’s has joined league one Brentford on a season long loan. There is also talk but nothing yet confirmed on the OS, that Young goalkeeper Jonathan Miles ( Pictured below) will join Bishop Stortford on a season loan, and will hopefully follow in the footsteps of our young goalkeeper Jordan Archer who made the same loan move last season and performed admirably.

It would also seem likely that there could be further departures for players such as Heurelhio Gomes, Kyle Naughton, William Gallas,  Sebastian Bassong, David Bentley,  Ryan Mason ,Luka Modric, Jermaine Jenas, John Bostock, Giovanni Dos Santos, Simon Dawkins and Jon Obika.

There has been some incomings but with the transfer window shutting at the end of the month and our first game just five days away the fans would have liked there to have been plenty more, two strikers, a winger and a young goal Keeper come on Levy make it happen!!

Jan Vertongen has joined on the back of being the  Dutch eredivisie player of the season and Ajax captain the tall classy center back will likely form a partnership with Younes Kaboul he cost around 8million and will be seen as the immediate replacement for Ledley King, Jan has signed a deal until 2016 and will wear the number 5 shirt.

Gylfi Sigurdsson joins on the back of a memorable loan at Swansea city in which he scored seven goals in eighteen appearances coming from an attacking midfield position, he is likely to be seen as the long-term replacement to Van Der Vaart , at just 22 he is a player for now and the future and a player with a potential for a large sell on value, he has joined from his former parent club Hoffenhaim from Germany for 10million he will wear the number 22 shirt this season and has signed a five-year contract until 2016.

Ezekiel Fryers who has not yet official been confirmed has joined the club from Manchester United pending a tribunal as united are entitled a fee for his development they are looking for around 6million, Spurs are looking to pay around 2million, so it will not be officially confirmed until a tribunal has set a fee. Ezekiel has played for spurs development squad in a 5-0 defeat to Middelsborough.

This looks a very promising signing as United wanted to keep the defender who can play at center back or left back and has been capped at Under 19 level for England, he made 6 first team appearances for United last season.

Steven Caulker has returned to the lane after a successful period at swansea gaining much-needed premier league experience. Since his return the 6ft 3 center back has signed a new long-term deal at the lane until 2016 has represented Team GB at the London Olympics and has now been called up to the England senior squad for the upcoming friendly against Italy in Switzerland. I would expect this season to be his breakthrough season at the lane and make between 20-25 appearances in all competitions. Steven has already made his debut for the club in the Carling cup defeat to Arsenal before he joined Bristol City on loan in the 2010 season.
